Suzanna Leigh – Artist Statement

I am currently exploring illustration, as I am working on a couple of children’s picture books. In the past decade, I’ve painted on silk, created fabric collages, and experimented with monoprint, as well as painting watercolor landscapes and florals. Watercolor is my favorite medium; I began learning it a my mother’s knee and continue to develop my skills. My ambition and goal since I was a teenager has been to illustrate children’s books.

I want my paintings to connect people with the beauty and wonder of nature, and with the force that creates us and our natural environment. I want my illustrations to tell a story, to fire the imagination, and to be beautiful.
