Catch Us While You Can! 25 + Years Making Art on Vashon
Call For Visual & Performing Artists
Presented by Vashon Visual Artists, Open Space for Art and Community, and Vashon Events
An exhibition to include the best (and oldest) of the best! Open to any visual or performing artist who has lived and worked on Vashon for 25 or more years, this show is a tribute to YOU. You are the artists who grew the arts on the Island, paved the way for new artists to emerge and continue to delight and enrich the senses of the Island community through music and visual art.
The exhibit runs from September 7 through September 30, 2018 at the incredibly remodeled Open Space for Arts and Community featuring elegant gallery and performing venues. Opening night September 7 with music and art events and performances throughout September both inside and outdoors. Visual arts curated by Christine Beck and Kristen Reitz-Green and performance events curated by Allison Shirk and Pete Welch of Vashon Events.
ENTRY CRITERIA: Artists (the word “artist” will be used to refer to both visual and performing artists) must have lived and created on Vashon for 25 or more years (that would be since September 1993 or before!) There is no charge for submission or jurying and all qualifying artists will be showcased. Each visual artist shall submit • One piece or image thereof or recording dating back 25 years • One current piece available for sale or performance demonstrative of the contemporary work • Current photograph and biography for display Each performing artist shall submit • Stage plot / sound needs • Current photograph and biography for display • Availability Sundays in September from 4-7 pm Deadline for submission August 1, 2018 Visual Arts submit to: Christine Beck at cdbeck@yahoo.com.
