Carole Meriam – Artist Statement
I moved to Vashon Island in 1989, built a home, and as Director of Sales, commuted to Group Health in Seattle for many years. When I retired from work, I enrolled in a painting class with a local artist, and was able to market my paintings in several galleries. Soon after that, I began painting pet portraits on a commission basis for clients throughout the state.
While living on a 42’ sailboat, I began designing sterling silver earrings to honor my cat, Toby. The cat designs reflect parts of my personality. Many of the earrings and necklaces include dog breeds, astrological signs, and numerous other images.
