Brooke Gassiot – Artist Statement
Brooke Gassiot is a multimedia artist based on Vashon Island near Seattle, Washington. Through her work, she captures moments of fleeting beauty in the life and death cycles of nature, drawing inspiration from the lush forests, enormous flowers and seascapes of the Puget Sound. She works in a range of mediums; gouache paintings, digital surface design, sculptural installation and murals.
Brooke studied art at The University of Texas at Austin and in Tuscany, Italy. She has shown her work internationally and her commissioned work hangs in commercial and private collections. She helped found two non-profit arts organizations; The Texas Sculpture Group (affiliate of the International Sculpture Center) and Icosa Gallery (a thriving artist-run collective) in Austin, Texas.
