Gale Lurie – Artist Statement
I have always loved to create, but it wasn’t until I was 22 when I fell in love with clay. Fifty years later I still love it and find it challenging. When working with clay I slip into a Zen mode. My greatest reward is making things that people can use and enjoy. All my work is one of a kind. I get my inspiration from nature as well as other artists’ work.
I enjoy colors and textures and trying new techniques, clay bodies and glazes, tools, and different firing techniques. I have been doing Raku for many years and still love the spontaneity of the process.
