Hartmut Reimnitz – Artist Statement
After I retired from 40 years of commercial fishing in Alaska I started to paint in oil. I always wanted to be a painter as a boy and now I feel fortunate to have the time to pursue my dream.
A large part of my life I spend outdoors observing the beauty and energy of the natural environment. Exploring and challenging the medium helps me grow in technical aspects and in my personal expression.
I was a member of the Vashon Island art group” Barnworks” and show my work in Galleries on Vashon Island and in Galleries of the Northwest.
Now together with my wife Ilse ( painter and printmaker ) and son Gunter ( metal sculpture ) open our Studio during the Vashon Island Artist Studio Tour twice a year in May and December .
