Rachel LordKenaga – Artist Statement
What should be known is that my father is a psychologist and my mother is an artist/ beautician, so try as I might, I was practically groomed to be an art therapist. At a very young age, I was diagnosed by my father as “manic-expressive” and although you can’t find it in the DSM, the description seems to fit. I am passionately interested in the psychology of art. In my studio, I feel most successful when I experience the therapeutic qualities of art making while simultaneously evoking feeling from the image, and in turn, the viewer. My interests are primarily two-dimensional, though I do some 3D.
