Terri Fletcher – Artist Statement

Fletcher’s work is about repetitions, recurrence and rhythm. Going over the same ground and looking for subtleties not noticed on the first visit is what she takes to her work. Seeing surprises in the seemingly mundane is always a bonus prize. Fletcher uses a Japanese resist dye technique called Shibori along with hand stitching to create her multi-layered works on fabric. Fletcher’s work has been featured in a major book about the Shibori dye process titled “Memory on Cloth.” Her work has been shown nationally and internationally.
