8th Annual Member Show

Check back in a few weeks for details about our 2025 VIVA Member Show, “Our Island, Our Home,” at Vashon Center for the Arts, May 2 – 25.

“Our Island, Our Home” celebrates the deep connections we share with our Island home. This exhibition invites island artists to explore the meaning of “home” through relationships – family, friends, community, and the land and sea. It reflects the close-knit spirit of island life and what it means to live, nurture, and share the place we love.

The show is open to all VIVA members working in 2D or 3D. You can join NOW and participate. To join, click here. Annual dues are $25 per calendar year.

No late applications will be accepted and NO changes can be made to any part of your application information at the time of art drop-off on April 28th.

GOALS OF THE SHOW
The first purpose of this show is to sell art! We encourage all participating artists and the whole VIVA membership to attend the First Friday celebration and make a splash. We also want to increase the connection between the community and our artists by posting photos of the artists with their work.

IMPORTANT DATES:

  • March 11: Application OPENS on VIVArtists.com
  • April 11, midnight: DEADLINE for submitting application & images of art
  • April 15: Entry Fee Check must be received (if paying by check)
  • April 18: Acceptance email sent from MemberShow@VIVArtists.com
  • April 28, 3-5pm: Drop off art
  • May 2, 5-8 pm: First Friday Artist Reception
  • May 2 – 25 : Exhibition dates
  • May 26, 9-11 am: Pick-up unsold art

ENTRY FEE
You may enter up to three pieces of art for $10. As a VIVA member, at least one of your works will be chosen by a jury for the show. (Subject to available space.) There are two ways to pay: via PayPal with the linked application below (preferred) or via mailed check that MUST be received by April 15th. If this fee is a hardship, VIVA is happy to work with you. ELIGIBILITY
Open to all members of VIVA, presenting 2D and 3D works of art. Please submit your best original work.

  • Wall hung work must be wired on the back for hanging. (Please follow the VIVA Guidelines for Presentation, found here.).
  • ALL ARTWORK MUST BE FOR SALE and will hang for the duration of the show.
  • There will be a 40% commission to VCA for items sold. Price your work accordingly.
  • The VCA will email a contract to each participant. You must review and respond to the contract via email ONLY. No printing or delivery of the contract will be accepted.
  • Participants will need to submit a W9 if they have not sold art at VCA in the last year OR if they have sold art but have had an address change. They can send a W9 electronically or print and delivery it with their art on April 28th.
  • Must be work not previously shown at VCA or any Vashon venue. Work shown at an artist’s studio is the only exception.
  • For 2D artists, the MAXIMUM size for your pieces is 36″ x 36″, INCLUDING FRAME.
  • For 3D artists, the pieces will need to fit on a pedestal in the gallery.

IMAGES
Submissions must be sent via DropBox no later than April 11, 2025. (You do NOT need a DropBox account to do this. Questions? Contact Lindsayihart1@gmail.com). AFTER you have read the directions below, submit your images, here.

  • Submit only JPG (or JPEG) images of work, photographed without flash.
  • Crop to the image; do not include the frame in your photo.
  • For best results, make sure your image is as close as possible to 1920 pixels on the longest side at 72 dpi and LESS THAN 2mg.
  • Label your jpg image: “LastName_FirstName_Title_medium_HxW.jpg” – with Height and Width including frame (Example: “Smith_Susan_DaisyFresh_oils_20x14.jpg”)
  • PLEASE upload a headshot of you, the artist (unless you know the VCA has a current headshot from past shows.) This should also be a high-res jpg that is cropped into a square format (versus rectangular). File name: LastName_FirstName_Headshot.jpg

ART DELIVERY AND PICK UP
All artwork must be delivered on April 28, between 3 and 5pm. All unsold art must be picked up on May 26, between 9 and 11 am. Please contact MemberShow@VIVArtists.com if you need to make special arrangements for art delivery or pick up. Checks for sold work will be sent within 30 days.

APPLICATION
You have two options for applying for the show and paying your fees: through an online form that connects to PayPal (preferred) OR through an online form that requires you to mail a check to: VIVA C/O Barbara Benedetti Newton, 26309 97th Ave SW, Vashon, WA 98070, to complete your entry. Please note the name of the artist on the check. The check must be received by April 15th.
