3. Charlotte Masi Studio
10311 SW 116th Pl
My insatiable curiosity has always been a driving force in my life and a dominant influence in my art and design. Discovering new mediums and new ways of working with them artistically is a never ending pursuit. I’ve enjoyed delving into a wide variety of visual arts.
My most recent endeavor is assemblage. I enjoy the complexity of attaching found objects to wood and metal, forming unusual patterns and statements.
I continue to create mixed media sculpture using copper, Apoxie Sculpt clay, wood and other miscellaneous wires, beads, driftwood and found objects to create pieces that explore emotion and movement. I create textures and patinas with copper as a way of adding to the visual image of the emotion.
Before retiring, I worked as an Environmental Graphic Designer and Advertising Art Director after graduating from ETSU with a double major in Industrial Design and Commercial Art and later did graduate work in ceramics and welded metal sculpture. My design experience has given me the visual and technical foundation to pursue many artistic interests. I never know what I might be trying next!s

"I began painting while a student of architecture at the University of Kansas in the mid 1970's. My overwhelming favorite medium has been watercolor. "Painting and teaching others watercolor is a passion and joy for me.
"I retired as a Principal of GFF Architects in 2016 and currently devote a great deal of my time painting and practicing architecture in my studio on Vashon Island, Wa. My paintings have been exhibited nationally and internationally during the past 15 years.

14. Wm Henri
23830 Vashon Highway
Welcome to Bill Cleaver's working studio and gallery, located in Burton's former seaside Post Office. Leather arts are practiced here using techniques developed over decades for everything from antique restorations to international runway fashion, and, more recently, for sculptural assemblages.
Leather has always been my primary medium-it tells me a story, and I bring it out. A passion for the cowboy period of the American West initially drew me to the skills and aesthetics that are the foundation of my interpretive work. My commercial designs have been used in fashion, advertising, television and film; other creations are in private collections and museums.
My newer sculptural work is a true departure for me and a real joy...no boundaries and 35 years of technique I can run with. Come in for some history, humor, and conversation. I have belts, cuffs, leather envelopes, jewely, some bags, and hardware items-even crows of leather, with attitude.

20. The Old Dockton Press
SW 265th and 99th Ave SW
The Old Dockton Press is nestled in Dockton, a small but vibrant neighborhood on Maury Island with a thriving community of artists. The studio is the creative home of founder and printmaker Annette Messitt, whose work celebrates the beauty of everyday objects and the rich wildlife of Vashon Island.
Annette works primarily in the reductive method of linocut — a meticulous process in which a single piece of linoleum is used to layer a finite number of colors, with more of the surface carved away before each successive color is applied. By the end of the process, the linoleum is almost entirely cut away, making additional prints impossible. The result is a richly colored, one-of-a-kind limited-edition print.
At the Old Dockton Press, you'll find framed and unframed original works, hand-printed cards and tags, notebooks, fine art prints, outdoor art, and art-adorned canvas bags. There truly is something for everyone, at every price point.
When you arrive at the studio, expect to warm up by the fire, help yourself to a cookie, and gaze upon Vashon's only Art Vending Machine. When was the last time four quarters bought you something that sparked pure joy? It's probably been too long.

Pam Ingalls celebrates two decades of capturing the faces of Vashon islanders with her newest exhibition, "Facing the Music: Portraits of Vashon Island Musicians."
"I feel very lucky to have a good excuse to notice my life with paint. Even the simplest moment has its own atmosphere – its own story. When I meet a person, walk into a room, or even pick up an orange, I get a certain feeling. There's an essence that belongs to just that moment. I get to be with that feeling while I attempt to translate it into the poetry of paint."

29. Vashon Center for the Arts
19600 Vashon Hwy SW
Pam Ingalls marks a meaningful milestone this May with her newest exhibition, Facing the Music: Portraits of Vashon Island Musicians, celebrating twenty years of presenting her beloved Vashon portrait shows. Over the past two decades, Ingalls has built a remarkable visual record of the Island’s people, capturing neighbors, artists, and community members with warmth, honesty, and luminous oil painting.
This year’s series turns her attention to Vashon’s musicians, a vibrant and thriving part of the Island’s creative life. Through intimate portraits, Ingalls honors performers whose music forms the soundtrack of the community—many of whom have appeared on the stage of Kay White Hall and helped shape the Island’s rich cultural landscape.
Known for her keen observation and sensitive approach to portraiture, Ingalls paints her subjects not as performers in the spotlight but as individuals. Her works reveal quiet moments of concentration, joy, and vulnerability that speak to years of dedication to their craft.
Her exhibition also resonates with the VCA’s long history of championing music and the arts on Vashon. By bringing musicians into the gallery through paint and portraiture, Ingalls bridges visual and performing arts—celebrating both the artists themselves and the creative spirit that continues to define Island life.
In the gallery gift shop, discover Eric Heffelfinger's handcrafted earrings, bracelets, chains, and pendants in gold and silver feature luminous stones including opals, pearls, and Kingman turquoise. With over fifty years of experience, Eric’s lost-wax cast designs embody movement, grace, and timeless craftsmanship.

"This marks my first solo exhibition at the gallery, and I’m excited to share this collection with you. I joined the cooperative in August and have loved participating in several group shows so far. The opportunity to present a larger body of work at this moment feels meaningful.
"In this show, I’m bringing together multiple parts of my practice. You’ll see new large-scale figure paintings that explore gesture, vulnerability, and emotional presence through layered color and expressive movement. Alongside these, I’ll be exhibiting new and re-imagined pieces or two from my travel collection on a larger scale, that reflect a deep sense of place and memory, landscapes that linger long after we’ve left them.
"I’ll also be sharing a substantial collection of my smaller gouache paintings, beautifully framed and ready to live in your space. These works capture fleeting moments, small scenes from big experiences.
"Together, this body of work explores identity, presence, and the search for balance between movement and stillness. I’m excited to share this next chapter and grateful to be part of a member-led gallery that supports artists in growing and experimenting. I also look forward to connecting with the community and in welcoming you to the Valise Gallery Artist Collective."
