Carol Schwennesen – Artist Statement
Where land and sky meet I see as a zone of transformation. Its offspring is flora and fauna: life. Land, sea, sky, animate and inanimate: we are all of the same stuff. Densities and fluidities differ, molecules and atoms jump around with precise abandon. For me, painting is a parallel zone of transformation – a fluid symbiotic relationship of paint and energy, known and unknown. My paintings are a visible track through the threads woven together from these worlds, creating new entities while those same threads and connections are also creating me. And you.
