Live demonstrations offer visitors a rare glimpse into this pioneering creative process.
Carol Lux and Michael Conley, the award-winning artists behind Made in Paradise, transform stone, leather, and fossilized ivory into timeless works of art. 34. Glass Heart Sandblasted Glass
15631 Westside Hwy SW Googlemap
Silvija Paza has been sandblasting frogs, herons and bugs on to windows, bowls, vases and more since 1985.
She also loves using real ferns, leaves, cedar and red huckleberry branches collected from the woods around her home on Vashon Island, gluing them onto the glass and sandblasting over them. This technique creates her “Forest Shadows” pieces with delicate silhouettes of the leaves on a frosted background.
The Holiday Studio Tour is an invitation to see where and how an artist creates their work! It adds a depth of understanding and appreciation of the piece. Silvija’s studio is divided in two – the “clean side” where she displays her glass and the “dirty side” where she does the sandblasting. Sandblasting is a labor-intensive, noisy and dirty industrial sort of process that surprisingly creates clear, delicate glass pieces that are both beautiful and useful. Here’s a chance to see the process and the finished pieces!
Silvija’s Glass Heart Studio is right next to the Old Colvos Store with the gas pump out front, which is her home and a King County historic landmark on the Westside Highway. Her studio is open year-round. Just text or call 206 567-4228 or email glassheartvashon@gmail.com if you’d like to stop by.
You can also find her work at the Swiftwater Gallery in lovely downtown Vashon.

19. Pam Ingalls @ Dig Deep
19028 Vashon Hwy SW. Googlemap
It feels more important than ever to notice the beauty of ordinary life these days. This year my travels carried me to Portugal, Spain, and Morocco, along with my tenth year teaching painting in Tuscany — and each place sent me home to Vashon Island seeing it with new eyes. For this new collection, Wonders Near and Far, I've painted simple still lifes, figures, interiors, cityscapes, and a few local scenes that we as Vashon Islanders in the Pacific Northwest get to enjoy — to help me remember that there is joy everywhere, if I just pay attention.
My oil painting show, Wonders Near and Far, opens First Friday, December 4th, 2026 at Dig Deep's Greenhouse from 6:00–8:00pm. Daryl Redeker will serenade us with his guitar at the opening party. The exhibit will also be open during the VIVA Art Studio Tour.
Pam Ingalls studied art at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence, Italy, and at Gonzaga University in Spokane. She later studied under the mentorship of Russian Impressionist Ron Lukas. Her widely collected, award-winning work has been juried into more than 125 national and international shows across the U.S., Europe, and Africa. Pam's paintings may be universal in scope, but each one is a personal statement from her heart.

Sara tells stories through her ceramics reflecting her love of creatures and characters, shapes and colors, textures and whimsies. Her figures often represent the people and animals she grew up with, expressing a keen range of emotion and humor. Her functional pottery is mostly hand painted as well, in the folk art tradition of vibrant colors and an aesthetic perspective of the world around her.

17. Vashon Center for the Arts
19600 Vashon Hwy SW Googlemap
The 20th Annual Minature Show & Eric Heffelfinger Fine Jewelry
Vashon Center for the Arts celebrates the remarkable creativity of artists working on both an intimate and intricate scale with two special exhibitions: the 20th Annual Miniature Show and a collection of fine jewelry by longtime Vashon artist Eric Heffelfinger.
A beloved island holiday tradition, the Miniature Show brings together an extraordinary variety of original artwork, each measuring no more than 36 square inches, or six inches in any direction for three-dimensional works. From paintings and sculptures to mixed-media creations, these small treasures demonstrate that artistic expression knows no size limitations. Whimsical, thoughtful, and exquisitely detailed, the works invite close examination and offer collectors an opportunity to discover affordable, one-of-a-kind art, perfect for holiday giving.
Complementing the exhibition, VCA's Gallery Shop features more than 20 new works by master jeweler Eric Heffelfinger, whose distinguished career spans over five decades. His collection includes earrings, bracelets, chains, and pendants crafted in gold and silver, incorporating beautiful stones such as coral, opals, and Kingman turquoise.
Using the ancient technique of lost-wax casting, Heffelfinger creates elegant, fluid designs inspired by the natural movement of water. Having crafted more than 5,000 pieces throughout his career, he continues to approach each creation with the same enthusiasm he experienced casting his first piece at age 15.
Together, these exhibitions celebrate exceptional craftsmanship, artistic imagination, and the enduring beauty of art made by hand, offering visitors a wonderful opportunity to discover and collect truly distinctive works.

16. Roots & Dreams Studio
12028 SW Cemetery Road Googlemap
Renée Marceau, assemblages with found objects. Esteban Roaché, ceramic sculptures and pottery.
Renée Marceau is an artist, farmer, and seeker of patterns. By exploring and making connections between seemingly unconnected objects through shape, color, texture and pattern, she reveals the hidden threads and symbols that dwell just beneath the physical world. Her assemblages elevate these connections and strives to capture the tension between nature’s vulnerability and its strength while reflecting its symbolism in our lives. Like nature, we face the tenuous edge of vulnerability and impermanence. In her view, we are not separate from nature. We are nature.
Esteban Roaché began his journey with clay at age five on a sunny day as he was unknowingly initiated into his future life through the alchemy of tasting the clay earth. After completing his MFA in Ceramics at the UW, he launched his professional career of teaching, making an artistic tile line, completing multiple public art mosaic installations, and creating sculptures and pottery. The process of working with clay and being guided by dreams and imagination are what ignites Esteban’s creative spirit. His sculptural work explores dream characters and often leads to new stories and insights into his personal and the collective mythology. His interest in tracking clay from its earth origin to finished product, fuels his artistry in traditional clay processes from throwing tea bowls to making bricks.
Esteban and Renee built Roots & Dreams Studio on their property to house each of their creative endeavors and to manifest a lifelong dream of both independent and collaborative artistry.

We are three potters in one studio, each producing work in our own style. We enjoy watching what each other is going to come up with next, and are always available to be wowed, help troubleshoot problems, laugh, and enjoy each other’s company.
Liz came to Vashon in 1986 and has been producing her colorful pottery from her home studio since then. “I have focused on the development of a colorful line of wheel thrown earthenware pottery intended for daily use. Brightly painted pieces are each unique, yet all related, making them fun to mix and match.”
Karen has lived on Vashon since 2003 and has been doing clay here since then. “I am currently exploring simple thrown functional pottery using a rich dark stoneware clay and a few reliable glazes. I try to take advantage of the contrast and interactions between the forms, clay and glazes.”
Marla came to Vashon in 1973 as a young potter and is fortunate to be working with clay again. “I make hand-built ware from porcelain and stoneware that is as useful as thrown ware yet not traditional. It is to be used every day.”
Sherry Lee Bottoms is joining us for the first time with her nature photo greeting cards.

Bill Cleaver, leather and more
My studio is a transformed U.S. post office overlooking the Burton waterfront marina. I have over forty years of experience in leather work and design, stretching across a wide set of applications. My studio is a fun collection of objects that have inspired me over the years, as well as a showplace for the full range of my work.
I originally approached leather with a fascination for the history of the American West in general and cowboy culture in particular. I developed complex leather handling, restoration and enhancement techniques that I've since used to explore fashion, outdoor gear and most recently, sculpture and assemblage.
In the studio, you'll find leather-based assemblages, fashion-inspired belts, bracelets, earrings, and an array of one-of-a-kind functional designs. My assemblages cover a wide range of topics, often with humor centered around crows. Some of the accessories are inspired by my past work with Ralph Lauren, Filson, Eddie Bauer, and Sundance.
The studio is wonderful. I hope you can come and see for yourself.

Craig Stewart
I was raised on Vashon. After graduating high school, I spent one year at Cornish art Institute in Seattle. The last 40 years, I have been a field construction boilermaker, traveling the country and working with heavy iron in an industrial setting. Coupled with the love of working with iron, and a dream of building a metal sculpture garden, I am looking forward to opening the iron garden to share my vision of art with iron.
Jayne Norton
"My intrigue of my family of origin has played a role in this lifetime. Being born in Wales, one believes they are this country that overtime with age creating abstract art I was constant in my search of understanding as I felt little connection to this home. It was with much digging and scraping with paint that I find myself at the core of being and this being is multicultural, and my fascination with fire and metal was unearthed around ancestors who made tools centuries ago."
Susan Darr
"I was raised by an artist on Vashon, I grew up with good training, but never pursued art. I took my first art class from Pam Ingalls in February, and again in September, in Tuscany Italy. I found out I have a penchant for it. Looking forward to learning and growing in my newfound talent."
